School Closed for 2007 I will be working on instructional DVD's this year and so will not have time to teach in 2007 See George in Fine Woodworking Magazine (#178) and Woodcraft Magazine #4, 2005 Special Holiday Issue, Issue #8 and in the July 5th Express News Metro Section Welcome to Spring Harvest Fine Woodworking! A business dedicated to building beautiful furniture that will last generations and to teaching aspiring woodworkers traditional woodworking methods.
My MissionTo design, construct and market furnishings using carefully chosen materials and attractive proportions. To preserve the environment by using wood species that are plentiful and by building furniture that will last. To provide a well equipped woodworking school and teach methods for building heirloom quality furniture using a modest selection of hand tools.
Profile of a CraftsmanMy name is George Huron and I am a 38 year old mechanical engineer and avid woodworker. I was previously a test engineer with thirteen years experience at one of the premier research and testing facilities in the world. My woodworking training is a mixture of instruction in nationally recognized woodworking schools and ten years of shop experience. Although I use both power tools and hand tools when manufacturing furniture, it is the frequent use of hand tools that makes my furniture unique. My furniture is based on a combination of classic published designs and my own original designs. Below are pictures of me at the instructors bench with my trusty plow plane, my wife Pat on our honeymoon and our two little pugs Maggie and Mollie.
Furniture Sales and School of Fine WoodworkingSpring Harvest Fine Woodworking is composed of the following two divisions: Furniture Sales: The Furniture Sales division carries the Spring Harvest Fine Woodworking line of shaker, mission and contemporary styled furniture. Each piece is numbered, dated and embossed with my makers mark. In order to ensure consistency in the quality of the furniture I sell, I perform all phases of construction personally unless otherwise noted. School of Fine Woodworking: The School of Fine Woodworking division instructs students in the art of using hand tools to make fine furniture. It is my goal to show that, with proper training and a little practice, just about anyone can enjoy making beautiful furniture without emptying their bank accounts. Contact InformationIf you have questions about my furniture or woodworking classes, please feel free to contact me (George Huron) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. central time, Monday through Friday.
